Frequently Asked Questions
What is RANCT?
RANCT is an acronym for 'RSS Agregator and News Collaboration Tool'. The primary goal of RANCT is to provide the visitor with all the news they need with having to navigate to dozens of different news sites. The owner was tired of navigating news sites because of popup ads that appeared after every new page. RANCT also wanted to provide the ability to look at national and local news in one view.
Where do the stories come from?
As the name implies, stories are aggregated from RSS feeds for every news agency currently in the database. When a news story is published, it will appear in the system in less than 10 minutes (sometimes with seconds!). No stories are written by RANCT, or imfluenced by RANCT in any way.
How does RANCT decide what is popular?
Since RANCT aggregated thousands of articles, assigning them to other articles that are similiar is a simple task! After an article is written by a predefined number of news agencies, it will appear as a popular article. From there, you can click the article and choose the other similiar articles from the RANCTbar by clicking 'Show Related'. RANCT does not, and will never choose what appears as a Popular News item.
I am having issues, can you help?
RANCT is currently being developed and changes will occur daily. Some of the changes will never be visible to you, but some will affect your experience. Please be patient while RANCT works to make your experience the best it can.
